The innocent days of childhood, carefree
sun filled summer time and cool-aide ran through my mind the other day and I
remembered these cute quips. “Sugar and spice and everything nice: That’s what
little girls are made of.” Contrary to that we are taught, “Frogs and snails
and puppy dog tails: That’s what little boys are made of.”

Corinthians 13:11 “When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a
child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put
away childish things.” (KJV)
When I was 10 years old my parents moved
our family to the desert. I was so excited because we were moving to the
wild-west. Along the way I spent what little money I had on what I considered
necessities. Somewhere in Texas I picked up a Bullwhip. As we drove through New
Mexico I added a bow and arrows to the collection of weapons my youthful mind
considered “must haves.” I already owned an assortment of knives and BB guns. I
was prepared for any uprising. I would not be caught by the unexpected.
There was no end to the depth of my despair
when reality hit. There were no feathered Indians with war paint and scalping
knives. The gun toting outlaws didn’t ware neckerchiefs and ride horseback.
Life in Arizona was just as modern and boring as life in Tennessee, although
the people did talk funny!
Ephesians
4:10-16 10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far
above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) 11 And he gave
some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors
and teachers; 12 For the
perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the
body of Christ: 13 Till
we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God,
unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
14 That we henceforth be no more
children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by
the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
15 But speaking the truth in love, may
grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: 16 From
whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every
joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every
part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. (KJV)
It’s time to stop playing with the ideas
that divide us and start teaching the TRUTH that unifies us! Let go of the old stereotypes.
See in others the glory of our King.
